The Bangko Sentral NG Pilipinas is the central bank of the Philippines and issues the currency. In order to avoid counterfeiters, the bank regularly modifies the design of their coins and banknotes, the latest update took place in 2010 when they issued new banknotes and also 2012 when the bank issued new coins. On the notes, important people in the Philippines history as well as world heritage sites and natural wonders are displayed. As for the coins, they feature Philippines national symbols.
